Digging Up Dinosaurs

 

We have been learning about dinosaurs and what it means for an animal species to be extinct.  As part of our unit, we read the book Digging Up Dinosaurs by Aliki.  We learned how careful paleontologists have to be when removing dinosaur fossils from rock.  We then got to practice this skill by excavating chocolate chips out of a chocolate chip cookie!

 

 

 

100th Day of School

The Mitten

 

After reading The Mitten by Jan Brett, the children retold the story by becoming the characters in the story.  We used a giant white sheet for the mitten.

Christmas

I find it hard to believe that it has been over a month since I have posted anything!  Where has the time went?  December flew by and I apologize for not keeping all of you updated on the happenings in the classroom.  As for me, I had a wonderful month and a great Christmas break but I am ready to get back into the swing of things and start the second semester!  I bet when school starts back on Monday, all of the children will look so much bigger!  The following are pictures from the Winter party before break.

This was such a fun game!  The children were in teams and had one minute to stuff as many balloons in these old sweatpants  to make a team member look like Santa!

Fabulous Friday!

 

We always try to have a lot of fun with learning on Fridays! That is why we call it "Fabulous Friday". Today, we did sight word races, practiced writing our sight words in shaving creme, and graphed Starburst candy to go along with our "space" theme! We had a great day!

 

 

 

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving



 

Today, we celebrated Thanksgiving, "Charlie Brown" style.  We watched a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and then replicated the "feast" that Charlie Brown made for his friends in the show.  It was a very odd snack but lots of fun!  Sorry about the picture quality.  I forgot my camera and had to use my phone- which doesn't take great pictures.

 

 

Fall Party

Our first party of the year went really well thanks to our hardworking homeroom moms!  Thanks to everyone that helped contribute to the party as well.  We couldn't have done it without you!
