Math Centers and Dr. Seuss

We love to play math games during our math center time.  Here are some pictures of the children having fun while working on important math skills.

Students add each side of a domino and place it under the number of the corresponding sum on the number line.

This is another domino game where each student chooses a domino, counts and writes the number of each side of the domino, and then writes the sum below.

This game is called "Under the Bowl".  It helps with both addition and subtraction skills.  Two students start with a bowl and ten counters.  One student closes his eyes while the other student hides some under the bowl but leaves the rest out.  The student then opens their eyes and has to figure out how many counters are under the bowl by looking at the ones that are out of the bowl.

Students place number tiles to fill in missing numbers on a chart.

Yahtzee!  Students roll two dice and add them together.  Then they place a marker on that sum.  The person who fills in his chart first, wins the game!
